Winter trips out of Calgary tend to go one of two ways: west to Banff, Lake Louise or Sunshine, or south to somewhere with a beach. A lash lift suits both.
Why a lash lift travels well
- Less to pack. No lash curler, and you can leave the mascara at home.
- Nothing to run on the slopes. Cold wind makes eyes water. Without mascara, there is nothing to smudge under your goggles.
- Fine in the pool. Once the first 24 hours have passed, swimming and showers are fine.
- Ready for photos. Lifted, tinted lashes frame the eye without any makeup.
When to book before you leave
A few days to a week before you go. For the first 24 hours a lift needs to stay dry, away from steam and free of makeup. That is easy on an ordinary day at home and harder on a travel day, or on the first night in a hotel with a hot tub.
A Korean lash lift typically lasts four to six weeks, so a lift booked just before you leave covers most trips. If you are away for longer, our booking listing puts the keratin lash lift at six to eight weeks.
Hot tubs, saunas and après
Mountain weekends often end in a hot tub or a sauna. Heat and steam only matter in the first 24 hours. After that, enjoy them, then pat your lashes dry and brush them back into shape.
Sunscreen around the eyes
Wear sunscreen on the slopes and on the beach, but keep it off the lash line itself, and choose a lighter, water-based formula near the eyes where you can. Heavy, oily products can soften the curl faster.
Pack a spoolie
A clean spoolie is the one thing worth packing. Brush your lashes up each morning, and brush laminated brows back into shape after a day under a toque.
Brows for the trip
Brow lamination holds a brushed-up shape for weeks and includes a brow wax and tidy, so your brows look groomed with no brow products in your bag. You can have it in the same visit as your lash lift. See brow lamination explained.
Book before you go
The Salon Studio in Garrison Woods takes appointments Sunday to Thursday, and the Home Studio in SW Calgary on Fridays and Saturdays. If your trip starts on a weekend, book the week before. Book your appointment.
Questions we’re often asked
How long before a trip should I get a lash lift?
A few days to a week before you leave, so the 24-hour setting window is over before you travel.
Can I go in a hot tub after a lash lift?
Not in the first 24 hours. After that, yes. Pat your lashes dry afterwards and brush them back into place.
Can I swim after a lash lift?
Yes, once the first 24 hours have passed.
